5 Steps to Deal with Negative Comments from Society

Although more and more women are involved in the field of sports worldwide, gender inequality and stereotyping still persist, as the society classify some sports under manly sports and that means that these sports can be played only by men.

Most of the Egyptian women who play sports that are categorized by our society under “manly sports” for example (weightlifting, kickboxing, football, etc) are judged every day for playing these kind of sports, that’s why in this blog, I am going to give you some tips based on research that helps you to overcome the negative comments that you face daily and push you forward the boundaries, to feel confident and comfortable, while playing your chosen sport.

  1. Try not to take negative comments personally People are always judging, don’t take their toxic comments personally, as they don’t mean to offend you but they are raised to believe in such things, so learn to deal with their comments in a positive way.

  2. You don’t need to judge yourself Try always to think positive and believe in what you can do, to reach your goals. “if you want, you can”, so work on yourself to prove them wrong.

  3. Try to ignore toxic people Negative comments and toxic people can prevent your growth and happiness, you can’t change how people act or talk around you, but you can change how you act around them.

  4. Thinking positive is the best way You should know how to clear your inner thoughts from toxic words, because if you make the inner world pure, your life will be pure.

  5. Support Others and Show Them Kindness Why should I be kind to them? If you act the same way, the people judging you there will be no difference between you and them. So try to treat them as you expect them to treat you.
